The skill margin needed to overcome rake at typical online stakes is roughly 5–10 big blinds per 100 hands at NL Hold’em cash games; harder to estimate for tournaments due to high variance.
Poker variants and their relative edge profiles
No-Limit Texas Hold’em: most popular online format, standard 5% rake capped, deep-stack games allow higher skill margin.
